Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited (TTCL) has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) to award an EPC lump sum basis Contract for 1,6-Hexanediol Plant Project, the first fine chemical production facilities of Ube Industries in Thailand, with a capacity of 6,000 tons per year of 1,6-Hexanediol (1,6-HDL) including co-production of 1,5-Pentanediol (1,5-PDL) from UBE Fine Chemicals (Asia) Company Limited, a company in UBE Group (Thailand), with the majority of share held by UBE Industries of Japan, one of the three major players in the global market for 1,6-HDL. The chemical plant with total investment of 2 billion Baht (US$ 57.1 million) is to be built at Thai Caprolactam's Caprolactam/Ammonium Sulphate Complex, Rayong, Thailand, by using UBE Industries' latest advanced technology and scheduled to be completed in the 1st Quarter of 2011. The fine chemical 1,6-HDL produced from this plant will be used as a raw material in adhesives and for high quality and high performance polyesters and polyurethane resins. There is also growing demand today for 1,6-HDL used in UV curable coating materials that are low in environmental impact.
This LOI is awarded to TTCL based on the excellent track record that TTCL has with UBE Group (Thailand) through Caprolactam/Ammonium Sulphate Complex Project for Thai Caprolactam Public Company Limited which was successfully completed in 1996 as well as the positive evaluation placed on TTCL's technical capabilities, valued engineering and competitiveness.
