UBE Fine Chemical (Asia) Company Limited, a company in UBE Group (Thailand), starts construction its fine chemical production plant in Thailand. The Laying of Foundation Stone Ceremony was held on November 16, 2009 at the new premises adjacent to Thai Caprolactam& rsquo s Caprolactam/Ammonium Sulphate Complex. Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited (TTCL) received EPC Contract on a lump-sum basis for this grass root fine chemical plant with a capacity of 6,000 tons per year of 1,6-Hexanediol (1,6-HDL) including co-production of 1,5-Pentanediol (1,5-PDL) in middle of 2009. The scope of work by TTCL includes detailed engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, and construction on a lump-sum basis.

This chemical plant based on UBE Industries& rsquo latest advanced technology and scheduled to be completed in the 1st Quarter of 2011. The fine chemical 1,6-HDL produced from this plant will be used as a raw material in adhesives and for high quality and high performance polyesters and polyurethane resins. There is also growing demand today for 1,6-HDL used in UV curable coating materials that are low in environmental impact.
